Senior Director, Business Development

The Position

We are looking for a uniquely talented and ambitious individual to play a material role in the expansion of revenue growth through new business initiatives and partnerships. The two closely-linked independent subsidiaries, Bulletin Healthcare and Bulletin Media (BH/BM), were recently acquired by Cision as it simultaneously announced plans to become a public company traded on Nasdaq in the second quarter of this year. BH/BM operate under the same business model, provide specialized news to 1.5 million physicians, healthcare providers and other professionals each day, have a combined 20% average annual revenue growth for each of the past five years and have enormous potential to increase this rate significantly. BH/BM plan significant new investment over the next 12 months to achieve their fast-growth goals.

We are seeking a rare mix of strategic, quantitative, and operational skills. The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of and experience in driving the execution of strategic partnerships.

The Senior Director, Business Development will be responsible for the following:

Evaluating existing concepts for new sources of revenue, including building complex valuation models in Excel  
Appraising the market, including competition and trends, and manage the prioritization of new initiatives
Provide support for key business managers to identify joint-venture targets, directly participate in the deal process and integration; and Identify and analyze new products’ revenue potential and assist in launching those deemed most likely to succeed.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the healthcare, pharmaceutical or similar fields, and the ability to launch strategic initiatives and partnerships to grow revenue in this fast-changing industry. BH/BM will rely on the position’s analysis and insights to help determine where to invest additional resources. The successful candidate will assist in defining the approach for this newly created position and will apply appropriate rigor to the evaluation of opportunities. The BH/BM leadership team is entrepreneurial and quick to act but also grounded in sound decision-making processes.

Qualifications

A background in digital media and/or the healthcare or pharmaceutical fields is strongly preferred. Your career path may instead have pointed to roles such as Management Consultant at a top-tier firm, Private Equity, or a mid-level corporate or business development role in a corporate environment.  Education concentrations in business, economics, math, or science are preferred, with an MBA or similar advanced degree from a top school being a large plus. Most important is the ability to be a quick learner and to execute on plans fast and efficiently.

Preferred experience/skills will include a mix of the following:

Experience analyzing revenue opportunities, and building revenue growth models for joint ventures, revenue-share partnerships, and other complex agreements.
Ability to identify and analyze new products’ revenue potential and assist in launching those deemed most likely to succeed.
A keen understanding of the healthcare industry and pharmaceutical marketing.
An in-depth understanding of digital advertising.
A high degree of curiosity around business processes, translating strategy to execution and a passion for continuous improvement.
Exceptionally strong quantitative skills.
A strategic and creative mind.
Ability to devise and test unique approaches and help drive implementation of new initiatives.
